Discussion:
Looking For Digital Audio Cable

I just got this DVD player. I am trying to plug in my digital audio to
it from my home theater receiver. My receiver has a digital audio
input on, and the DVD player has a digital output on it. But, the DVD
player has a coaxial digital output (circular hole, just like a
standard video out hole) and my receiver has the digital input hole
that requires that new kind of Fiber optic cable.

CAN I GET A CABLE THAT HAS ONE END BEING THE COAXIAL DIGITAL END AND
THE OTHER END WITH THE FIBER OPTIC END ????
WHERE CAN I GET THIS CABLE FROM ?
I LOOKED ON EBAY AND COULD NOT FIND A CABLE WITH THE TWO DIFFERENT
ENDS.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. PLEASE

Goro,

As someone else pointed out... such a cable does not exist. The coaxial
connector takes an electronic signal whereas the fiber optic is strictly
optical. You basically have three choices:
1. verify that the DVD does not have an optical out also (I'm somewhat
surprised that a new DVD player would only have coax out). Also verify
that your receiver only has optical in and not coax in.
2. replace the DVD player with one that has optical out
3. use the analog outputs on the DVD player into your receiver.

Good luck.
Merlin.
P.S. if you don't know or did not know... typing in all capitals is
considered shouting which is bad online etiquette. Also, this is a
'forsale' group. If you are going to post non-forsale messages prefix
the subject with OT for Off Topic.

Actually, there is a module that converts (or at least claims to)
digital coax to to-slink optical.

Good point about possibly having an optical out.

Hey, Goro, what make/model of DVD player do you have?

no, dont think there is a adapter, because the optical cable actually
uses light as a signal, so theres no way to convert it.

if the dvd player has optical digital out, it will have coaxal digital
out as well... all you have to do is use a single RCA cable... if it
does not (which would be quite odd.. as even the amp should have
both).. you can get converters from monoprice.com or otvtech in
saskatoon who stocks there products (bridge city on broadway does too)
